At St. Mary’s Catholic First School we are committed to the equal inclusion of all pupils in all areas of school life.
Every child is entitled to a broad and balanced education. We have an inclusive culture in our school and we are responsive to the diversity of children’s backgrounds, interests, experience, knowledge and skills. We recognise the diverse and individual needs of all of our pupils and take into account the additional support required by those children with Special Educational Needs and Disabilities (SEND).
Children with SEND are fully included in all aspects of our school life and provision is made for those with a variety of barriers to learning. From using a sensory room, offering school clubs accessible to all children as well as providing specialist equipment to those that require it within class and in the wider school environment.
Teachers are skilled at supporting children with learning differences within the classroom and scaffold learning carefully to ensure our learners can be the best they can be.
We have well trained teaching assistants able to deliver a variety of interventions who are supported by both classroom teachers and a variety of specialists who visit the school.
